Back when I was in graduate school at Drew University (Madison, NJ), another student and I took a tutorial from Dr. Leigh Eric Schmidt. It focused on scandal in U.S. ministry. While doing research, I found the story of Jacob S. Harden, a young minister living out in Warren County.
Harden's story stuck with me and eventually became the inspiration for my first novel, Saint Maggie.
The paper itself told the sad story of Rev. Harden and his wife, Louisa Dorland, but primarily investigated the way Harden's trial and execution were covered by local and regional newspapers.
The paper is offered below as in Scribd. However, you are welcome to download it as a PDF. The link is below the Scribd document.
To my knowledge, the only place this work has been published in right here on Squeaking Pips Books.
